Programmers wanted at Guppyworks

We are also looking for experienced games programmers to join our team of highly skilled people. You will primarily have to work on our very ambitious online game, GuppyLife. We’re a compact team where each individual has many responsibilities and everyone contributes creatively in an informal environment.

Required skills:
• A solid background from the the games industry is a must!
• Strong in C++ as well as high level scripting languages (e.g. LUA)
• Strong in debugging your own and other programmers code
• Agile development (rapid prototyping, refactoring) – we use SCRUM

We are currently looking for programmers with experiences within the following fields:

Engine programming:
• Advanced software architecture design and implementation
• Selecting and integrating 3rd party libraries
• Maintaining and extending our game engine (based on Ogre3D)
• Resource handling and data usage optimisation
• PC compatibility handling

Tools programming:
• Design, implementation and maintenance of various editors
• Create tools optimising the production pipeline
• Customise exporters/importers (XSI, 3DS Max 9,...)
• Server administration interfaces (PHP, MySQL,...)

GUI programming:
• 2D/3D in-game user interfaces design and implementation
• 2D/3D UI based audio feedback
• Localization (Unicode, fonts, multiple resource handling, etc.)
• Rapid prototyping and focus group testing of GUI solutions

Game programming:
• Translating concepts of the game designer into programming
• Design and programming of game logic and flow
• Tweaking and of gameplay and character behaviour
• 3D world setup and graphics asset integration
• 2D/3D audio setup

Network and database programming:
• Low-level communication (UDP/TCP, RUP, Sockets,...)
• MMOG Server hardware configuration
• Integrating 3rd party networking technologies (chat, file transfer, ...)
• Server-side game programming/scripting (AI, game world logic,...)
• Database design for load balancing and scalable
• Network security and MMOG exploitation handling
• Data mining and analysis (statistics, presentation,...)
